Eclipse makes three lines of TPU inner tubes. Same patented valve, same patented welding process, same German manufacturing and individual QC testing. What changes is the wall thickness — and with it, the balance between weight and durability.

Patented all-aluminum, removable core — all three lines |
Ultra — The competition tube
The thinnest TPU wall in the Eclipse range. The Ultra line is engineered for riders who want every possible gram advantage — where the tube is a performance component, not just something that holds air.
Key characteristics
- Lightest TPU tubes on the market — from 19.5 g for road (622 × 20/25 mm)
- Lowest rolling resistance in the Eclipse range thanks to the thinnest wall
- Ultra Endurance covers wider tyres up to 35 mm at just 27 g
- Ultra Gravel available at 46 g for 622 × 30/45 mm
- Same patented all-aluminum valve and end-to-end welding as all Eclipse tubes
Best for
- Road racers and time trialists chasing marginal gains
- Competitive climbers who count every gram
- Crit and circuit racing where acceleration matters most
- Gravel racers who want the lightest tube option for race day
- Riders using the tube as a lightweight spare on tubeless setups
Good to know
The Ultra's thinner wall trades some puncture resistance for the weight saving. If you're riding rough roads, mixed surfaces, or in conditions where flats are likely, consider the Performance or GT instead. The Ultra is a purpose-built racing tube — it excels when speed and weight are the priority.
Performance — The everyday tube
The centre of the Eclipse range. The Performance line is where most riders start and most riders stay — because it delivers the weight savings and ride quality of TPU without compromising on real-world durability. It covers the widest range of categories, from road to MTB to BMX.
Key characteristics
- Balanced TPU wall — optimised for the best weight-to-durability ratio
- Road tubes from 27 g (Classic 20/25 mm) to 40 g (Endurance 23/35 mm)
- Gravel at 51 g, Off-Road from 55 g (26") to 65 g (29")
- Broadest size coverage: Road, Gravel, Off-Road 26"/27.5"/29"/32", BMX 20"/OS20"/24", Brompton 16"
- Holds pressure like butyl, packs smaller than any butyl spare
Best for
- Daily training and long road rides
- Riders switching from butyl who want the full TPU benefit
- Gravel riding — both race and adventure
- Trail, XC, and all-round mountain biking
- Commuters and touring riders who want a reliable, lightweight tube
- Anyone switching from tubeless who wants the weight savings without the maintenance
Good to know
The Performance line is the best value in the Eclipse range — road tubes start at just €19.95. It's the tube we recommend to anyone trying TPU for the first time. The weight penalty versus Ultra is minimal in real-world riding, and the durability gain is meaningful.
GT (Gran Turismo) — The durable tube
The thickest TPU wall in the range. GT stands for Gran Turismo — built for riders who measure their days in hours and kilometres, not sprints. Where the Ultra strips weight to the minimum, the GT adds it back in the form of puncture and cut resistance. Still dramatically lighter than butyl.
Key characteristics
- Thickest TPU wall for maximum puncture and cut resistance
- GT Road from 46 g — roughly half the weight of a comparable butyl tube
- GT Gravel at 65 g, GT Off-Road from 85 g
- Threaded valve + nut options available in 50 mm and 70 mm for a secure rim fit
- Same patented valve and welding technology as Ultra and Performance
Best for
- Long-distance road riding — sportives, gran fondos, multi-day tours
- Bikepacking and adventure cycling where reliability is non-negotiable
- Commuting with panniers on mixed road surfaces
- Winter and all-season riding where puncture risk is higher
- Enduro and rough off-road terrain
- Anyone who prioritises reliability over absolute weight savings
Good to know
The GT costs only €4 more than the Performance line and adds meaningful real-world puncture protection. If you're unsure between Performance and GT, ask yourself: would a flat on this ride be an inconvenience or a serious problem? If the answer is "serious problem," GT is the right choice.
What all three lines share
Every Eclipse tube — Ultra, Performance, and GT — is built on the same foundation:
-
Patented all-aluminum valve with removable core. Compatible with standard extenders. A loose core is a 60-second fix, not a new tube.
-
Patented end-to-end welding process that eliminates the overlap seam — historically the most common failure point in TPU tubes.
-
Individual quality testing — every tube is water-immersion tested and 24-hour pressure tested before shipping. Not batch sampling. Every single one.
-
Made in Germany under direct quality control, from raw TPU pellet to finished, packaged tube.
-
100% recyclable — TPU can be reprocessed without losing its structural properties.
Quick decision guide
"I'm racing this weekend." → Ultra
"I want the best all-round tube." → Performance
"I need it to survive anything." → GT
"I'm trying TPU for the first time." → Performance
"I want a featherweight spare for my tubeless setup." → Ultra
"I'm bikepacking across Europe." → GT
