Description

Wider tires in non-standard wheel sizes — cargo bikes, wide-tired folders, recumbents with a more relaxed profile, and city bikes that don't conform to 700c. The Eclipse Performance Custom Wide covers the 30–45 mm tire width range across the same 16–32 inch diameter span as its narrower sibling, built for setups where you need something heavier-duty than a road tube but lighter than anything butyl offers in this size.

Why it works

From 30 g across a wide range of sizes. A butyl tube in equivalent dimensions can weigh 120–160 g. For a cargo bike doing loaded daily runs, that's meaningful weight off every wheel.

30–45 mm width range, 16–32" diameter. The wider profile handles hybrid, city, and light trail tires on non-standard wheel sizes — from folding bikes with wider tires to cargo bikes running 24" or 26" wheels.

Greater volume means a more compliant ride. Wider TPU tubes flex more than narrow ones at a given pressure — useful on a loaded cargo bike where suspension is minimal and the tube absorbs more.

Patented all-aluminum valve with removable core. Standard Presta compatibility, field-replaceable core.

Patented end-to-end welding. Eliminates the seam junction that causes most TPU tube failures.

100% recyclable.

Important: specify your tire diameter at checkout. Add your ETRTO diameter or nominal wheel size in the order notes. It's printed on the sidewall of your current tire. If in doubt, include both the diameter and width marked on the tire and we'll confirm the match.

Narrow or wide — which Custom tube do I need?

Custom Narrow (23–35 mm) — road-profile, slick, or narrow hybrid tires. Brompton standard, junior road bikes, most recumbents. Custom Wide (30–45 mm) — wider city, hybrid, or light trail tires. Wider folding bikes, cargo bikes on 24" or 26" wheels, touring recumbents.

Best for

  • Cargo bikes and longtails on 20", 24", or 26" wheels with wider tires
  • Folding bikes running wider-than-standard tire profiles
  • City and commuter bikes in non-700c sizes where standard tubes are limited to heavy butyl options
  • Recumbents and velomobiles with mid-width tire profiles

Installation — four things that matter with TPU

Zero air on entry. Insert the valve completely flat. Wider tubes have more material to distribute evenly — starting flat prevents bunching. No tire levers on the second bead. Mount by hand. Soft-inflate to 0.3 bar (5 psi) first, check for folds or uneven seating around the full circumference. Inflate in 1 bar (14 psi) steps to riding pressure. Squeeze the sidewalls all the way round before reaching maximum PSI.

What makes Eclipse different

Eclipse pioneered TPU inner tubes in 2011 and has built out the range to cover the sizes the market ignores. The patented all-aluminum valve and end-to-end welding process run across the entire Performance line. Every tube is QC-checked before it ships.

All Eclipse TPU tubes are

  • Manufactured in Germany
  • individually water-tested and 24h pressure-tested
  • 100% recyclable

What is TPU?

  • TPU is known for its high elasticity, flexibility, durability, and resistance to abrasion, which makes it first choice in multiple sports applications, like bicycle grips and inner tubes. Eclipse TPU material can be stretched by over 400% before failure.

  • Modern TPU is a highly sustainable material which can be recycled and reused without losing significantly on its material properties, it's therefore poised to lead in future material developments
